Job wanted God above all else. Without
knowing, he proved God's belief in him before the Satan, he proved that it was
God that he loved, not the blessings of God.
Job fought until his understanding was
changed.
Instead of shying away from God when he didn't
understand, he boldly approached. Job knew he had done nothing wrong and wanted
to understand why God had allowed these terrible things to happen to him.
In the end, Job settles for God himself.
He didn't need answers to his questions
anymore, because God had spoken; God had put Job's universe into perspective.
How often do we lose sight of God and place
ourselves in the centre of the universe?
We forget just how vast, infinite, and
immeasurable God is. We get stuck rearranging our small ideas of what matters
and wonder why we come out disillusioned and confused.
We need to learn to let go of the
"do-good to get-good" notion of God and love Him simply for Himself,
not for the many abundant blessings He gives us.
Thankfully, we know that death is not the
end. Our God is righteous, and His universal order will call for all wrongs to
be righted. Our God is just, and justice will have the last say. Jesus Christ
is the hope we have in redemption and retribution, if not on this side of life,
most certainly on the otherside!
